Why do dogs pull?
To get to whatever is in front of them: great smells, other dogs, open spaces, squirrels, anything at all or nothing.
Pulling gets dogs to what they want faster. And it works. This is why it is best to teach dogs loose-leash walking as early as possible. Pulling is rewarding to the dog, so the more she does it, the harder it is for her to give it up. If you have an expert puller, however, don’t despair. Any dog can be taught loose-leash walking. And the human success rate is nearly as high.
Why train it?
To be able to enjoy your walks with your dog. It’s not fun or safe for your dog take you for drag down the road, and pulling while wearing a collar can actually damage your dog’s trachea. Isn’t training them to walk with a loose leash more pleasant for those on both ends of the leash?
You sure do talk pretty, but what do you ACTUALLY do?
We’re glad you asked! Our Leash Manners Service is a 45-minute session, in which we use only dog-friendly methods to achieve leash walking skills. We also work on door manners, such as calmness while putting on leashes and harnesses. This also includes a handoff session in which we teach you the principles of loose leash walking and all the training materials and cheerleading you need to help you along the way.
That sounds great! But what does it cost?
Oy! You are full of questions! Since we’re training a skill, this service is sold as a package. It includes 6 visits, at 45-minutes each, the last visit being a hand-off training session. The cost is $35 per session, at a total of $210. You can request this service by emailing us at email@example.com.
Are you currently between pets but would still like someone to visit your home? BCPS, is proud to offer our Goldfish Service. While you’re gone, we’ll pop in for a quick visit to rotate the lights, rattle your blinds, water the plants, say “HEELLLOOO??” really loudly, perform our best impersonation of a large dog barking, and if you have one, actually feed your fish. Basically, it’s a security check for your home… and fish. Fish security is serious business.
Prices start at $10 for 10 mins and are only available by special request.
